Crab Quest

I love seafood and especially hungry for crab on a weekend when I was with some friends, Anna, Keven, and Gene. Anna and I share the same interest in Crab, but Gene is not quite a fan of it. Since we are in a democratic country, we started out quest for crab. It was a Saturday night around 10pm and we are driving.

Anna suggested a Chinese Seafood and wanted me to call them about their hours and specials. I dialed the number, the phone ringed, and a guy answered.
"Hello."
"What time do you close tonight?"
There's a short pause and the guy asked very politely:
"Who's asking?"
I realized I probably had the wrong number.
"Is this a restaurant?"
"No, it is a resident not a business number."
Wops, I apologized and hanged up, while my friends were laughing so hard in the front seats. Anna gave me the number again and said
"Why are you speaking English to them?"
Right, I was also glad that I didn't ask them what their crab special is. That would be a very wired phone call. So I called the right number and specifically asked if it is a Seafood restaurant in Chinese. The answer is positive. I found out they close at 1am. Then I was trying to ask what their crab special is. But I didn't have to much chance to speak Chinese in a daily bases, so I forgot what's special in Chinese and got stuck in the conversation. The equivalent conversation in English is like:
"What do you have for crab ... mmmm?"
Before I can finish my sentence, the guy answered:
"We run out of crab tonight. Only have lobster and shrimp."
That's too bad. So we tuned our radio to a Chinese station and listened for restaurant ads. Yes! There is one, the south sea restaurant. They have crab special for $2.99. However, on one caught their phone number or address. Anna suggested me to call my Chinese friends for directions. And I did.

I found out where this restaurant is and chat with my friend a little bit. Afterwards, Anna asked me if the restaurant is good. I said I didn't ask and my friend didn't say anything bad about this place. I concluded that it must be all right and should just go there.

We went to this restaurant, but it was very late around 12:20am. I guess the waiter was not too happy to see us coming in so late. We wanted to order crab, but they also ran out of it. So we had to order lobster instead. It's also 2.99, but we had to order at least $29.99 other dishes. We were not so happy about it, the ad didn't say that. At the end, we didn't get our crab tonight.

Greek's everywhere!

Here is a funny story. I was seeing the Getty Center in Santa Monica on a Saturday evening with two guys from Greece. The place was beautiful and I was enjoying the evening breeze and sunset. The two Greeks started talking in Greek. So I didn't understand what's going on. As we were about to leave, two girls asked one of the Greek to take pictures for them. Accidentally, she speaks Greek. And my Greek friend seemed to be a little embarrassed. After the pictures were taken, my friend told me "Greek's everywhere!" I asked why do you say so. He said "I were saying the girl in pink is very nice in Greek and then they asked me to take their picture. They must hear me. It always happen to me. " Haha, so watch out what you are saying even though you are not speaking English here.

Then my other Greek friend feed in his story. He was with his Greek friends walking down a street and a pretty woman walking towards them. His friend said "The girl is nice, but the dress is awful.", of course in Greek and thinking the woman wouldn't understand. But what do you know, she stop and said to them in Greek "Why don't you like it?" I asked what did you guys say to here. My friend said they just fled the crime scene. I wonder why did you tell her what didn't you like about. I was reminded that the woman was not looking for a logical explanation. Ah, right. Never ever say bad things about a woman's outfit.
